Tess in Iceland |
On the year I turned 50, I embarked on my first adventure travel. It was my first self-drive tour in a foreign country where majority of the area is wilderness . I was nervous of course but it was a test run for me for travelling supposedly solo, to see if I can do it on my own. Gladly I didn't have to do it on my own. My twin sister Teresa decided to join me and we met at the airport in Reyjavik. Me coming from Canada and she flying from the Philippines. In 11 days, we drove around
Iceland with a rented second hand SUV.
Since then, Teresa and I travelled to other places together meeting at the destination and some countries as solo. The last adventure we did together was a trek to the
Everest Base Camp in Nepal. Before that I hiked
The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru.

Tess and Teresa in Nepal |
I will be writing about my journey to these far flung places and experience the world like the youngsters do. I will not let my age, fear and lack of financial means to deter me. I am
55 years old and the world is my oyster…. I am a recycled teenager in a backpack….. although my version of backpacking is slightly modified but I can tell you how I pack light, what type of clothes and shoes I bought and how I planned it all within the limit of my budget….. most of all how a golden girl like me (I refused to call myself old), who is aging gracefully manage to walk to 17,600 feet in 8 days.
I have a long bucket list and some are not that easy to do….but I am listing them anyway. I started this blog to chronicle all of these adventures past and future and someday when memory fails me, I have them all written down and I can always come here and relive them all over again.
